Children’s events
Beyond Books: A preschool discovery program (in person), Monday, January 10 and Thursday, January 13 at 10 a.m. Beyond Books is aimed at children aged three to five. Each session will focus on a different topic. Sign up for the Monday series to explore science topics and the Thursday series to explore the arts and crafts. We’ll start with books and then move on with hands-on activities to dig deeper into these topics.
Big Kid Storytime (in person), Monday, Jan.10 at 4 p.m. Children from Kindergarten to Grade 2 are invited to join us for a story hour with more in-depth and engaging picture books.
Come and play! (In person), Tuesday, January 11 at 10 a.m. Families are invited to join us for an open recreation. Come have fun with your kids and make new friends.
Matter of Fact Book Club (in person or virtual), Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. Hello history buffs and lifelong learners! The Matter of Fact Book Club is dedicated to non-fiction reads, exploration of history, science, essays, and biography. We meet on the second Wednesday of each month in the boardroom from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. This month we’re reading Eight Flavors by Sarah Lohman. Pick up a copy at reception or listen to it as an audiobook via Hoopla. If you need to join a session virtually, please send an email to a.sonia-bolduc@dover.nh.gov.
Teen events
Dungeons and Dragons for Teens (Virtual), Sunday January 9 at 2 p.m. Adventure with our Dungeons and Dragons groups for teens! The game meets every other Sunday at 2 p.m. In this group, our players face off against scheming villains and elemental monsters as part of the Princes of the Apocalypse campaign. No experience or material is required. All skill levels are welcome. You don’t need to have attended previous sessions to enjoy your first game. Registration on our event page is required to receive a link to the virtual session.
Adolescent Advisory Council (TAB) (in person), Wednesday, Jan.12 at 6 p.m. TAB is a group of students aged 7 to 12 who want to shape library programs and services for high school and high school students. TAB members attend monthly meetings to share ideas, help plan future events / services for teens, and work to make the library a teen-friendly space in our community, and help to choose the material for teenagers for the library. Meetings also include snacks and fun group activities as well as discussions. We would love to see you and hear your ideas! For any questions about TAB, please email Emily at e.fortin@dover.nh.gov.

Creativity Corner (in person), Wednesday, January 12 at 6:30 p.m. What are you doing? Come share your creations with others. Explain why you create, your process, share ideas, get help with the challenges you face and be inspired.
The opening hours of the Dover Public Library are Monday to Thursday 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Masks are strongly encouraged inside the building.
