July’s PlayStation State of Play event saw Polyarc reveal the first teasing details of its long-awaited follow-up, Moss: Book II. Today, the studio announced that the charming puzzle adventure starring everyone’s favorite mouse, Quill, will return in spring 2022.
Fans of the first title will remember how narrative the experience was, and that story arc should continue in this second release. Brave Mouse has rescued her uncle Argus from an evil threat, this time to finally end the ruthless reign of the Arcane, she must face a winged tyrant chasing her into the evil castle where her uncle was being held captive.
Polyarc revealed that Moss: Book II will continue to mix both action and puzzle mechanics, where players will be confronted: “dangerous terrain, difficult puzzles and enemies twisted in fire and steel”. While some familiar characters will return, there will also be plenty of new faces and gameplay features to check out. Those shown so far include an ability to harmonize with nature to develop new paths and a huge hammer to really smash things.
Alongside other games like Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Mousse showcased the innovative ways third-person games could work in virtual reality (VR). VRFocus said in his review: “Mousse is a perfectly crafted experience featuring a character who absolutely deserves to be the face of modern virtual reality. Every square inch of the world shows attention to detail, and a story is woven that draws you in, making you truly invested in the world and in Quill as a person. Expectations are therefore high for Moss: Book II.

Currently, Polyarc has only confirmed a PlayStation VR version of Moss: Book II without any mention for the moment of other platforms such as Meta Quest. Seen the original Mousse eventually supported most VR headsets, cross-platform support is expected.
Take a look at the new launch date trailer below and as more updates are released VRFocus will keep you posted.
