Aryan Khan, the son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, read religious books in the prison, the prison administration told ANI news agency on Sunday.
Aryan Khan has been held in Arthur Road Prison in Mumbai for more than three weeks following his alleged involvement in a drug case on a cruise ship.
Prison officials said Aryan Khan was anxious in prison after his request for bail was denied. Therefore, the authorities suggested that she read the books in the prison library. Officials said Khan had received books from the library. “In the past two days, Aryan Khan has read a book written about Lord Ram. Earlier, Khan had read a book called The Lion’s Gate,” the prison administration said.
A prisoner is only allowed to read religious books, the statement added.
The Mumbai Special Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Court (NDPS) on Thursday extended the custody of Aryan Khan and others until October 30 in connection with the drug case on cruise ships .
Earlier Wednesday, the special court refused to grant bail to Aryan Khan and two other people in connection with the drug seizure. As a result, Aryan Khan filed a bail application in the Bombay High Court against the NDPS court order regarding his denial of bail.
The Bombay High Court will hear the bail application on October 26.
